About the calculator
- How is it calculated?
- On the first day of each month the amount is converted at that month's exchange rate and used to buy the asset at that month's price. Today's value is what all of it is worth at today's price and exchange rate.
- Why does my currency matter?
- When your currency weakens against the dollar, anything priced in dollars (US stocks, gold, Bitcoin) is worth more in your currency. That effect is included here.
- Are fees and taxes included?
- No. Real investing has fees, spreads and sometimes taxes. The S&P 500 line uses the index itself, without dividends, so a real fund would usually have done a little better.
