- What is a depeg?
- A stablecoin is meant to be worth exactly $1. When it trades well below that, it has "lost its peg", usually because people doubt the reserves behind it. USDC briefly fell to $0.87 in March 2023 when its bank failed.
- What do the colours mean?
- Green is within 0.5% of $1. Amber is 0.5% to 2% away: worth watching. Red is more than 2% away.
- Why does USDT sometimes show $0.998?
- Small gaps of a few tenths of a cent are normal and come from buying and selling pressure on each exchange. They are not a depeg.
