About these prices
- Why is the price in my local shop different?
- This page shows the world gold price converted into your currency. Jewellers add import duty, taxes, making charges and their own margin, so shop prices are usually higher, and the price they pay you for old gold is lower.
- What do 24K, 22K, 21K and 18K mean?
- 24K is pure gold (99.9%). 22K is 91.6% gold and is the usual jewellery gold in Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan. 21K (87.5%) is common in the Gulf and 18K (75%) in Europe and for diamond jewellery.
- How big is a pavan, a tola or a vori?
- A pavan (sovereign) is 8 grams, used in Sri Lanka and South India. A tola is 11.66 grams, used in India, Pakistan, Nepal and the Gulf. A vori (bhori) is about 11.66 grams in Bangladesh.
- How often does it update?
- Every few minutes while gold trades, from Monday to Friday. At weekends the price stays at Friday's close.
