About the savings calculator

Worked example
Start with 100,000, save 10,000 a month at 8% a year for 10 years, and you end up with about 2,051,424. You put in 1,300,000 and the other 751,424 is interest. With 5% inflation, that final balance would buy about what 1,259,397 buys today.
How is it calculated?
Interest is added every month, and each monthly saving is added at the end of the month. So you earn interest on your interest, which is known as compound interest.
What does "after inflation" mean?
Prices usually rise over time, so money in the future buys less. This figure shows what your final balance could buy in today's prices, using the inflation rate you enter. See real inflation for your country.
Are taxes and fees included?
No. It assumes the same interest rate for the whole period and no tax or fees. Real rates can change, so treat the result as an estimate, not a promise.
