What is a stablecoin?
A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency designed to keep a steady price, usually $1.
Most are backed by cash and short-term government debt held by the company that issues them. USDT and USDC are the largest. They are not bank deposits and are not government insured, so they carry risk if the issuer has problems.
